Debunking: The rape kit myth

Filed under: Debunking myths about Sarah Palin — Alexander Omega @ 9:49 pm

Myth: Under Sarah Palin, the city of Wasilla, Alaska, charged alleged rape victims for tests until state law stopped this practice.

Fact: There is no evidence to support this. No alleged rape victim from Wasilla has come forward, even anonymously, to testify they were charged. No documentation of such charging has ever been shown. Statements by Dhimmicrats in 2008 that Wasilla practices were the cause for the 2000 state law contradict their statements and the record of the time.

Debunking: The Palin secessionist party myth

Myth: Sarah Palin was a member of the secessionist Alaskan Independence Party.

Fact: While Todd Palin is a former member of the party, Sarah Palin has been a registered Republican since 1982. The chairwoman of the state-level party incorrectly reported third-hand rumor as fact to the press and has since admitted she was wrong.

In addition, the AIP is not secessionist (not that there’s anything wrong with that). The official platform of the AIP is better described as the classical and Constitutional “states’ rights” position. In addition, the party seeks a referendum on statehood akin to those offered Puerto Rico it maintains Alaskans were denied prior to induction into the United States; it holds no official position on the status of Alaska subsequent to a theoretical vote against statehood.
